A tempting taster event to tickle those tiny taste buds

DFDS chef

Last week, as part of a profile-raising programme, Westgate organised and held a very successful taster event for DFDS Seaways. The event was a targeted, regional event to celebrate the launch of DFDS Seaways’ Autumn/Winter menu in the 7 Seas restaurant. The 7 Seas restaurant is located onboard both King Seaways and Princess Seaways, which are the cruise ferries that sail on the Newcastle to Amsterdam route. The event, held at the Port of Tyne in North Shields, proved to be a huge success with all attendees leaving full to the brim with delicious food.

We worked with digital agency twentysix to secure the attendance of seven regional journalists and bloggers including: The Journal, Accent and Northumberland Gazette as well as a range of influential bloggers, such as: The Food Newcastle and Taste of the North. All attendees were very excited to meet Thomas Hansen, Chef De Cuisine, to tour the King Seaways ship and to taste the delights on offer.

The attending journalists were treated to a four course tasting menu which represented just a few of the 80 delicious food options available to passengers each night in the 7 Seas restaurant. The specially prepared dishes included a vast array of fantastic seafood as well as both meat and vegetarian dishes. The duck with orange cream was definitely a firm favourite!

The event was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the high quality food available onboard DFDS Seaways’ cruise ferries, and also engage with some of the regions most influential journalists. It has proved to be a huge success for everyone involved and we are very much looking forward to planning the next event for the new Spring/Summer menu.
